On completing an univariate Cox regression analysis, IL-18, IL-6, IL-1ß, an age ≥ 50 years-old, and diabetes were all significantly associated with all-cause mortality, whereas albumin levels < 3.55 gm/dl at the start of PD were found to not be an independent risk factor for all-cause mortality (p = 0.096) (Table 3).
