Additionally, tau is a common pathological marker for several neurodegenerative disorders collectively referred to as tauopathies, e.g. frontotemporal dementia with parkinsonism linked to chromosome 17 (FTDP-17) and Pick’s disease, corticobasal degeneration, progressive supranuclear palsy (PSP), amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), guam parkinsonism dementia complex, and dementia pugilistica.
