With regard to PD-1+ lymphocytes, there was a trend for worse clinical failure-free survival (CFFS) in the entire patient material (HR: 1.96 (CI95% 0.90–4.25), p = 0.084, Table 1, Figure 3), but subgroups known to indicate unfavorable prostate cancer prognosis had a significantly higher risk for CF if they had a high density of intratumoral PD-1+ lymphocytes: age < 65 (p = 0.025), pT3 stage (p = 0.011), preoperative PSA > 10 (p = 0.039), and Gleason grade 9 (p = < 0.001) (Figure 3).
