Expression of AREG has been associated with poor prognosis in several cancers, including colon, ovarian, cervical, breast, pancreatic and brain cancers.15, 62, 63, 64, 65, 66 Our data indicating that high expression of AREG correlated with advanced stages and shorter survival in ovarian cancer patients is in agreement with previous reports and reinforces that AREG could serve as a prognostic marker for ovarian cancer. The gene discussed is AREG; the disease is ovarian carcinoma.
