CXCL8 and chorioamnionitis: While we saw no differences in the propensity of the different Ureaplasma species or serovars to vary the size of their MBA/mba (Table 3), our study demonstrated that a lack of MBA/mba size variation in vivo was associated with a significantly higher incidence of histological chorioamnionitis (Figure 2A) and elevated levels of the cord blood cytokines IL-8 and G-CSF (Figure 2B).
