ANGPT2 and neoplasm: This data are consistent with literature demonstrating that during angiogenesis, Ang-2 is released from tumor cells (Morrissey et al., 2010) and binds the endothelial cell Tie2 receptor, which causes pericytes to pull away from the endothelium, resulting in a destabilized vasculature (Ahmad et al., 2001; Zhang et al., 2003; LaManna et al., 2004; Scharpfenecker et al., 2005).
