Here we investigate the experimental therapeutic BGP-15 (O-(3-piperidino-2-hydroxy-1-propyl)nicotinic amidoxime), which has previously been used in clinical trials for the treatment of skeletal muscle pathology associated with Type 2 Diabetes (through insulin sensitization; U.S. National Institutes of Health, 2014), Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD) and heart failure (through anti-inflammatory and anti-fibrotic mechanisms; Gehrig et al., 2012; Sapra et al., 2014). This evidence concerns the gene INS and Duchenne muscular dystrophy.
