Nevertheless, future studies should examine the role of PDGFRβ deficiency on NPCs in the subventricular zone of PdgfrβF7/F7 mice, and determine whether deficient PDGFRβ signaling influences CNS repair after injury, as for example ischemic stroke that leads to both, a rapid pericyte cell death and dysfunction [13, 25, 26] and migration of NPCs from subventricular zone to the sites of ischemic injury [42].
