This phenomenon was accentuated by an increase in de novo fatty acids synthesis as demonstrated by the increase in mRNA expression levels of ACC1 and FASN. Furthermore, decreased expression and activity of ELOVL6 contributed also to the marked increase of LCFA culminating in NASH with the accumulation of myristic acid (C14:0). This evidence concerns the gene ELOVL6 and metabolic dysfunction-associated steatohepatitis.
