Further studies have shown that up-regulating JMJD3 in healthy donor CD4+ T cells increased JMJD3 binding and decreased H3K27me3 enrichment within the ITGAL (CD11a) promoter, thereby causing T and B cell hyperactivity, while inhibiting JMJD3 in SLE CD4+ T cells showed the opposite effects. This evidence concerns the gene KDM6B and systemic lupus erythematosus.
