In addition to being associated with the progression of parkinsonism [5–7], Parkin deficiency is also frequently detected in a broad spectrum of tumors and tumor-derived cell lines, including melanoma, glioma, ovarian cancer, cervical cancer, lung cancer, hepatocellular carcinoma, colorectal cancer, and gastric cancer [8–11]. The gene discussed is PRKN; the disease is central nervous system cancer.
