To test this idea, we knocked down Nrf2 in Hs578T and MDA-MB-231 breast cancer cells, two high expressors of SLC7A11. Nrf2 knockdown caused a marked decrease in SLC7A11 expression (Fig. 5a,b,e) and reduced glutamate release (Fig. 5c,f). Here, SLC7A11 is linked to breast cancer.
