More than 80% of the known epilepsy-related genes are found in the ZF genome and different groups were able to generate ZF epilepsy models by specific gene manipulation, recapitulating the main characteristics of the human disease, e.g., fever-sensitive myoclonic epilepsy (CHD2 and SCN1A) (Suls et al., 2013; Zhang et al., 2015) and fever-associated epilepsy (STX1B) (Schubert et al., 2014). Here, CHD2 is linked to epilepsy.
