Studies conducted by Sanchez-Robert et al. [8, 28] reported an association between a haplotype (TAG-8-141) that includes a SNP in the promoter region and a microsatellite in intron 1, and two SNPs (A4549G in intron 6 and C4859T in exon 8) located in the Slc11a1 gene and susceptibility to leishmaniasis in dogs. The gene discussed is SLC11A1; the disease is leishmaniasis.
