During the last decade, some anticancer drugs in clinical practice, such as platinum [17], paclitaxel [18], resveratrol [19], EGCG [20] and curcumin [21], have been shown to increase the level of NADPH oxidase (Nox)-derived ROS production to suppress cancer cell growth through mediating p53-independent apoptotic signaling components, including MAPKs (p38, ERK1/2 and JNK), PI3K/Akt, BAX/Bcl2 ratio, cytochrome c, Apaf-1, caspase cascade (caspase 3, 8 and 9) and PARP activation.
