Looking at the altered miRNAs in the identified networks, we found that the top scoring networks contained transcription factors that are considered master regulators of mesenchymal transformation in glioma including CEBP/β, STST3 and RUNX1 (Figures 6E, Supplementary Figure 10B) [36], as well as a group of genes that are common to the EMT process including TGFβ1, SMAD1 and ZEB1 [44].
