Vascular endothelial growth factors (VEGFs), in particular VEGF-C and VEGF-D, have been described as regulators of lymphangiogenesis in BCa [11] and the expression of VEGF-C was found to correlate with pelvic lymph node metastases and poor prognosis in this malignancy [12].
