Interestingly, by using Atm−/−Becn1+/− mice model, it was demonstrated that the genetic inactivation of the autophagic gene Beclin 1 results in a significant delay of lymphoma and leukaemia onset normally occurring in Atm-deficient mice, due to the rescue of mitochondrial abnormalities and not of the DDR [13]. This evidence concerns the gene ATM and leukemia.
