ADAM1A and amyloidosis: In the late stage of the synthetic amyloidosis caused in E. coli by the WH1(A31V)-mCh prionoid, the concurrence in the cytoplasm of H2O2 and some freed iron, the latter from dismantled mononuclear Fe-enzymes and (Fe-S)-containing proteins and the reduced levels of a major Fe-storage protein (ferritin, FtnA), would result in the generation of hydroxyl radicals through Fenton chemistry.
