CAV3 and heart failure: Cav-3 has been identified as a muscle-specific form of the caveolin family and plays a significant role in the pathophysiology of the heart (Williams and Lisanti, 2004), such as, cardiac arrhythmias (Vatta et al., 2006; Schilling et al., 2016), myocardial ischemia/reperfusion injury (Zhao et al., 2013), cardiac hypertrophy (Patel et al., 2008), and heart failure (Feiner et al., 2011).
