The mRNA expression levels of the other cholinergic genes, CHAT (1.000 ± 0.509 vs. 0.436 ± 0.188, P = 0.559), VACHT (1.000 ± 0.227 vs. 0.833 ± 0.216, P = 0.186), CHRNA3 (1.000 ± 0.475 vs. 0.488 ± 0.154, P = 0.442) and CHRNB4 (1.000 ± 0.450 vs. 0.489 ± 0.257, P = 0.207), were not significantly changed, although a tendency for decreased expression was observed in MDD suicides. This evidence concerns the gene CHAT and major depressive disorder.
