2016). Consistent with the reduced visceral fat mass, plasma leptin levels in Tg mice were reduced relative to Wt littermates at 12.5 months (Fig. 4A). Interestingly, the plasma insulin levels were remarkably decreased in Tg animals compared with Wt controls at 12.5 months (Fig. 4B). HOMA‐IR, the ratio of fasting glucose and insulin levels, was used to quantify insulin resistance. The data showed that the values of HOMA‐IR in Tg mice were significantly lower than that of corresponding Wt mice at 12.5 months (Fig. 4C), suggesting enhanced insulin sensitivity in Tg mice.
