Four genes have a link to mitochondrial function, cellular proliferation, or apoptosis (CACNA2D2, CLVS1, OTUD7A, and FLT3), three genes have been linked to neurological function (and amyotrophic lateral sclerosis in particular), where dysfunctional mitochondria have a known role [35, 36] (ASIC2, CLVS1, PARD3B) and four genes have been previously linked with cancer (LMO2, CACNA2D2, FLT3, and PREX1). The gene discussed is PARD3B; the disease is cancer.
