The gene coding mutations for the E-cadherin is the gene CDH1 (cadherin 1, type 1) located on chromosome 16q22.1 [134], have already been described with regard to carcinomas of the head and neck [135, 136]; even though most of the studies were limited to small sample sizes, in short follow-up, or incomplete information of the treatment of the patient for which it was not possible to formulate a definitive statement about carcinogenesis (Figure 6).
