Comparing BER pathway regulation in Adenocortical Carcinoma (Figure 5A) vs. Ovarian Serous Cystadenocarcinoma (Figure 5B) demonstrates that the pathway seems to be intact in the Adenocortical Carcinoma (Figure 5A), but not in Ovarian Serous Cystadenocarcinoma (Figure 5D) due to deregulation at the level of expression and multiple mutations in the key regulators of this pathway, especially the upstream initiators of this mechanism, NEIL1, 3, NTH1 and XPG (Figure 5B vs E). The gene discussed is NTHL1; the disease is ovarian serous cystadenocarcinoma.
