SLC22A12 [27, 37], CDC42BPG [29], and SLC2A9 [32, 37–39] were previously implicated as determinants of the serum concentration of uric acid or gout, whereas the remaining four SNPs identified in the present study as being related to the serum concentration of uric acid or hyperuricemia were not previously found to influence serum uric acid levels, hyperuricemia, or gout (Supplementary Table 8). This evidence concerns the gene SLC2A9 and gout.
