Focal adhesion kinase (FAK) has been implicated as playing an important role in tumor progression, survival, migration, and angiogenesis.29 Research has reported that phosphorylated FAK is essential for VEGF-A signaling pathways and angiogenesis.30 To verify whether FAK activation is involved in WISP-1-induced VEGF-A expression, we pretreated cells with a FAK inhibitor (FAK i) or FAK siRNA and then stimulated the cells with WISP-1 for 24 h. This evidence concerns the gene PTK2 and neoplasm.
