OSR1 and neoplasm: Whereas overexpression of OSR1 significantly inhibited cell growth, arrested cell cycle, and induced apoptosis in the gastric cancer cell lines AGS, MKN28, and MGC803, knockdown of OSR1 led to enhancement of cell proliferation and inhibition of apoptosis in the normal gastric epithelial cell line GES1[13], indicating that OSR1 is a functional tumor suppressor in gastric cancer.
