HC increased basal NEFA and glucose (Fig. 2C), as well as insulin (basal insulin 30.4 ± 6.0 pmol/L vs. 55.2 ± 7.4 pmol/L, p = 0.025 control compared to hypercortisolemia) and C-peptide concentrations (basal C-peptide 0.25 ± 0.03 pmol/mL vs. 0.38 ± 0.04 pmol/mL, p = 0.001 control compared to hypercortisolemia). The gene discussed is INS; the disease is adrenal gland hyperfunction.
