MAPT and tauopathy: While the level of phosphorylation at Ser199 in our TgF344-AD rats was not significantly different from the nTg cohort (p = 0.13), the phosphorylation of tau at Ser202/Thr205 (p = 0.030) was increased by a factor of two; and the phosphorylation of tau at Thr231 (p = 0.035) was increased by a factor of 1.5 compared to nTg rats, demonstrating early tauopathy in the transgenic cohort (Fig. 1).
