Using the transcriptomic approach, LRRK2 has been reported to bind with Rab7l1 whose polymorphism confers the reduced risk of PD at the Golgi apparatus, and the degeneration induced by G2019S could be rescued by the overexpression of the Rab7l1 in the Drosophila dopamine neurons (Gan-Or et al., 2012). This evidence concerns the gene LRRK2 and Parkinson disease.
