The authors proved that the growth inhibitory effect induced by activation of Hh signaling is mainly through the Gli1 protein, as shown in Fig. 5, and Gli1 plays a pivotal role in cell proliferation through regulation of the G1-S transition and that Gli1 is implicated in the Shh-dependent autocrine loop that accelerates the proliferation of gastric carcinoma cells [40]. This evidence concerns the gene GLI1 and gastric carcinoma.
