Previous studies demonstrate that the neuronal axon guidance receptor deleted in colorectal cancer (DCC) is also highly expressed in the adult dopamine neurons, is dynamically regulated by amphetamine (Yetnikoff et al., 2007), and mice with haploinsufficiency for DCC demonstrate blunted responses to the psychomotor activating effects of amphetamine (Flores et al., 2005). Here, DCC is linked to colorectal cancer.
