We quantified the number of tumor-infiltrating macrophages and T cells by immunofluorescence staining of tissue sections in a cohort of 20 BAP1-immunopositive tumors and 23 BAP1-immunonegative tumors from the Leiden cohort, and found that BAP1-negative tumors contained significantly higher numbers of CD3+ T cells (P = 0.002), CD8+ T cells (P = 0.003), and CD68+ macrophages (P < 0.001) (Fig. 1a-b).
