Once again, the similar expression of CD206 and IL-4 between infected and control individuals (Figs. 4a and 2, respectively) and the high expression of intracytoplasmic IL-10 within the CD206+ monocytes (Fig. 4b) suggest that regulatory monocytes are the predominant circulating myeloid cell population during hookworm infection. The gene discussed is IL10; the disease is ancylostomiasis.
