Such a role is likely, as a recent study has shown that induced expression of Cdh13 in melanoma cells resulted in the detection of V-Akt and FoxO3a hypophosphorylation, which was accompanied by the down-regulation of the ant-apoptotic molecules BCL-2 and BCL-x, suggesting that Cdh13 regulates Akt signalling and desensitizes melanoma cells to apoptosis (Bosserhoff et al. 2014).
