This subgroup was older (55.6 vs 51.8 years, p = 0.016), had a longer history of type 2 diabetes (12.2 vs 8.8 years, p = 0.017) and had lost more weight during the intervention (12.1 vs 8.6 kg, p = 0.001), but did not differ from the other participants in sex distribution, ethnicity, baseline Lp(a), BMI, HbA1c and LDL-cholesterol, nor in change in Lp(a) during the diet. This evidence concerns the gene LPA and type 2 diabetes mellitus.
