The breast cancer intrinsic subtypes that identify four biological and clinically distinct subtypes (Luminal A, Luminal B, HER2 and Basal-like) were developed on 1753 genes from FF samples [22], reduced to a 50 gene-set (PAM50) as an PCR-based assay using FFPE samples [23] and then adapted to a nanostring platform as the PAM50-based Prosigna test [24]. The gene discussed is ERBB2; the disease is breast cancer.
