PRDX2 and myeloid sarcoma: The cytoprotective antioxidative activity of PRDX2, its modulatory role in intracellular redox signaling, and its function as a potent extracellular activator of Toll-like receptors make PRDX2 an interesting molecule to investigate in the context of inflammatory demyelinating diseases, such as MS, in which oxidative stress is described as a mechanism leading to demyelination, axonal damage and neurodegeneration.
