Taken together, representing the sequential events in the angiogenic process, the two plant extracts, namely, EA fractions of E. jambolana seeds and M. paradisiaca roots, showed strong anti-proliferative and anti-angiogenic effects in breast cancer cell lines through the inhibition of VEGF-induced cell proliferation, HUVEC tube formation in vitro as well as suppression of VEGF-induced rat corneal neovascularization in vivo and also CAM neovascularisation ex vivo. The gene discussed is VEGFA; the disease is breast cancer.
