The expression levels of several Clathrin-regulatory proteins and of genes with known functions in Clathrin-mediated endocytosis are altered in patients with AD (Wu et al., 2010; Thomas et al., 2011) and at least three proteins linked to the Clathrin pathway have been associated with AD: PICALM, BIN1, and CD2AP (Chen et al., 2012; Parikh et al., 2014). Here, CD2AP is linked to Alzheimer disease.
