Most genes from the “Pathways in cancer” (FLT3, IGF1R, DAPK2, PLD1 and MMP9) are inhibited due to the action of BE resulting in an anti-proliferative and pro-apoptotic action of the combined therapy, with the notable exception of the up-regulation of the apoptosis inhibitor BIRC3. This evidence concerns the gene BIRC3 and cancer.
