Genetic studies in neuroendocrine biomarkers of schizophrenia target most frequently two genes, and their single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs): a gene for FK506 binding protein-5 (FKBP5), encoding the protein FKBP51, and a gene for corticotrophin-releasing hormone receptor 1 (CRHR1), encoding the CRH type 1 receptors. This evidence concerns the gene CRHR1 and schizophrenia.
