Patient factors that weresignificantly associated with non-AIDS deaths versus AIDS-related deaths includedolder age (median age, 48 versus 40 years), more likely to be on ART (74.1 versus55.8%), less likely to have a CD4 count of <200 cells/mm3 (47.2%versus 97.1%), and more likely to have an HIV viral load of <=400 copies/mL (38.1versus 4.1%). This evidence concerns the gene CD4 and AIDS.
