The following effects of this interleukin are related to CAD: attraction and activation of neutrophils, synergistic action with the tumor necrosis factor alpha, release of IL6 and IL8, induction of pro-inflammatory changes in different cell types, injury and apoptosis of endothelial cells, influence on the polarization of type 1/type 2 macrophages, combined action with interferon gamma for the production of inflammatory interleukins by smooth muscle cells and synergistic effect with IL12 [15-18]. This evidence concerns the gene CXCL8 and coronary artery disorder.
