FBLN1 has been reported to act as a tumor suppressor gene and to be regulated by promoter hypermethylation in gastric and prostate cancer [46,47], and in renal cell carcinoma and bladder cancer the FBLN1 promoter hypermethylation has been shown to correlate with gene expression and tumor stage [44,48]. This evidence concerns the gene FBLN1 and prostate carcinoma.
