When the gene expression of the cancers most similar to stem cells of all seven histologies (lung, breast, colon, ovary, leukemia, lymphoma, and liposarcoma) were analyzed, up- or downregulation of a limited number of genes was found; in particular, we found upregulation of oncogenes (including MYC, TBX2) and down regulation of tumor suppressor genes (including p53 and RB1) (Table 1). This evidence concerns the gene MYC and leukemia.
