We observed that at the time of coagulation necrosis and early stages of tissue granulation [12, 24], as illustrated by 8 hours after MI, there was a slight decrease in podoplanin-labeled structures in the necrotic area when compared to a corresponding myocardial region in non-operated hearts (Fig 1A), which is in agreement with previous findings in humans [12]. The gene discussed is PDPN; the disease is myocardial infarction.
