CCND1 and colonic neoplasm: To date, only a few bona fide Kaiso target genes—c-Myc, Wnt 11, Cyclin D1, Siamois, Matrilysin and Rapysn have been characterized.24, 25, 29, 45, 48 Two of these genes (c-Myc and Cyclin D1) are well-established pro-proliferation oncogenes49, 50 that were found to be repressed by Kaiso in Xenopus laevis embryos and colon cancer cells.24, 29 Therefore, it was surprising to find that loss of Kaiso in TNBC cells led to their decreased, rather than increased, expression (Figure 1e).
