A sister paper from the Alcohol-ADH1B consortium, however, found evidence for non-linear associations between alcohol intake and some cardiovascular disease traits, including non-high density lipoprotein cholesterol, BMI, waist circumference, and C reactive protein.72 We would expect these associations to then translate into greater heterogeneity of association with specific cardiovascular disease endpoints as seen here, underlying the importance of greater granularity in endpoint specification. The gene discussed is ADH1B; the disease is cardiovascular disorder.
